Amacon 15th Annual Vancouver Christmas Tree Lighting
Posted On December 8, 2021

This year Amacon celebrated its 15th consecutive annual Vancouver Christmas Tree Lighting in downtown Vancouver. Hosted by Fred Lee, this year the ceremony was held live for an audience in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery near Robson Square. The event was free to the public and offered live musical entertainment, complimentary hot chocolate, and of course a visit from Santa Claus himself! Several public figures were in attendance, including Mayor Kennedy Stewart who said a few words to kick off the ceremony. Proceeds and donations from event sponsors were donated to several local charities, including the BC Children’s Hospital, Honour House, and the Vancouver International Children’s Festival. This is part of a giving tradition and legacy that has amassed over $1.5M in donations over the past 15 years.
Many consider the lighting of the 76′ Christmas Tree as the start of the holiday season in Canada. As the tallest tree in Western Canada, the Vancouver tree stands even taller than the tree in New York City’s Rockefeller Center. It is a symbol of light and hope and will continue to stay up throughout the winter.
Amacon would like to thank the sponsors of this event, which has become an annual tradition that we look forward to every year. Without their contributions, we couldn’t make this wonderful event happen! Also, thank you to everyone who came out to attend the event. It was a magical evening and we can’t wait to have you all back at next year’s Tree Lighting!
